I attended a press show at Beckers
(a big Swedish paint manufacturer) today, to see their new A/W 09/10 paint collections. It all started with two presentations of the biggest trends in interior colors right now, the first held by Lotta Ahlvar from The Swedish Fashion Council
, and the second one by Sofie Johansson, communication manager at Beckers. The three trends that Beckers have decided to focus on are:
Eco; celebrates natural materials and crafts, environmental awareness and a slower lifestyle. Dominated by grey, brown and other naturals colors combined with white, but with an added zing of green and yellow hues.
The new luxury; parallel with the down to earth eco trend comes a whole new trend, the nouveau riche lifestyle from Russia, Dubai and China, craving attention and getting it too. This shows deep, bold and sophisticated tones, accentuated by luxurious metals like gold, copper and bronze.
Colorful geometry; this is where you will find sporty, happy hues, used in an artful and free way with graphic shapes and stripes on both walls, furniture and textiles. Mixing different surfaces to achieve unexpected effects.
There was also a short trend forecast with more concrete examples of the colors that will dominate the coming season:
Blackened pastels with a bite: dirty pinks and greens, duck egg blue, khaki
Purple in a broad spectrum: from lilac to plum and aubergine
Soft grey: concrete grey with a hint of green, mixing cold and warm metallic shades
Play with white on white: mixing white hues with eachother in different finishes and glosses
