For some reason, the interior styles of Scandinavia and some places on the other side of the globe like Japan, Australia and New Zealand, are sometimes extremely similar, even though life conditions, climate and traditions differ widely. I don’t believe it has anything to do with globalization and or mutual influences, I’d rather credit it to a universal longing for simplicity and honest materials. Or what do you think?
I found a home today in New Zealand, that could just as easily have been located in Denmark, with a beautiful understated style and a nice mix of very minimalist furniture and more exclusive looking lighting, with a few statement pieces scattered throughout the space. See the full house tour and read an interview with the owners, who made many of the objects in the house, over at Sight Unseen.
